The Almighty Father in Heaven, Yahweh, has made a way for us to be saved.

First and foremost we should ask ourselves why we need to be saved in the first place.
In the beginning, Elohim– Elohim is the Hebrew word for God, and something along the lines of Yahweh is Hie personal Name. We use the Hebrew words for certain names because using these names prevents a generic approach to god. Many religions use the word god to refer to many different false deities, and the name “Gad” is in fact a Semitic pagan deity. If the name Gad is pronounced in a Semitic way we find that the long “aaaah” sound produced the word God.
To avoid this, we choose to use these Hebrew names so the god of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is referred to directly.
In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1
In the beginning His creation was perfect. The earth was perfect and His greatest creations, Adam and Eve, were un-spotted by sin. They were unaware even of the existence of sin.
The Genesis account tells the story of Eve being deceived by the serpent and Adam following after her words. They ate the forbidden fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. The serpents primary tactic was to place doubt in the mind of Eve. He simply asked her, “Did Elohim really say that you are to not eat of every tree of the garden?”
And the woman said to the serpent, “We are to eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden, but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, Elohim has said, ‘Do not eat of it, nor touch it, lest you die.’ ” -Genesis 3:2
Eve made the mistake here of misquoting, or somehow changing, the command of Yahweh. He did not command them not to touch the tree, only not to eat of it. She added to the words of Yahweh.
The serpent then insisted that they would not die if the ate of the fruit,
“For Elohim knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be like Elohim, knowing good and evil.” -Genesis 3:5
And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, and she took of its fruit and ate. And she also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made loin coverings for themselves. -Genesis 3:6-7
Adam and Eve were both aware of a shortcoming for the first time. They felt some sort of guilt, even if they did not exactly know what had happened. They knew something was wrong and they attempted to fix things by themselves. Feebly and in fear, they sewed fig leaves to cover their own nakedness.
Next, Elohim explains to them what was to happen because of their disobedience.
And they heard the voice of יהוה Elohim walking about in the garden in the cool of the day, and Aḏam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of יהוה Elohim among the trees of the garden. And יהוה Elohim called unto Aḏam and said to him, “Where are you?” And he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid myself.” And He said, “Who made you know that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”
And the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree and I ate.” And יהוה Elohim said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
And יהוה Elohim said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all livestock and more than every beast of the field. On your belly you are to go, and eat dust all the days of your life. “And I put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed. He shall crush your head, and you shall crush His heel.” Genesis 3:8-15
For the first time shame had entered the world, as Adam and Eve felt the need to hide from Yahweh. Yahweh inquired and in both cases Adam and Eve blamed someone else for their deed. Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the serpent.
It was true that Eve gave Adam the fruit and he ate, and it was true that the serpent deceived Eve. However in this passage we learn that each of us are responsible for our own actions. Crucially, this passage also gives the whole world a hint as to the means of salvation that Yahweh has made for us.
Yahweh put enmity between the seed of the serpent and Eve’s Seed. The serpent would be allowed to injure the Seed of the woman somehow. We also see that the head of the serpent would be crushed by that Seed.
To the woman He said, “I greatly increase your sorrow and your conception – bring forth children in pain. And your desire is for your husband, and he does rule over you.
And to the man He said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘Do not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground because of you, in toil you are to eat of it all the days of your life, and the ground shall bring forth thorns and thistles for you, and you shall eat the plants of the field. “By the sweat of your face you are to eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are, and to dust you return.” Genesis 3:17-19.
We are all responsible for our own actions, and we must pay the consequences for our sins and transgressions. That is one lesson from this passage. However the hint of the Seed of the woman makes us understand that there is a battle going on which we don’t understand. There is a battle between a serpent and the Seed of the woman, perhaps in the heavenly realm.
Generally seeds in Scripture refer to genealogies. The genealogy of Eve eventually threads it’s way to a man named Yeshua of Nazareth. The events of His life did in fact cause His heel to be bruised by the serpent.
Yeshua was tortured and crucified to death, although He did no sin in His life. He was given to all who would believe in Him as a substitutionary sacrifice. His death atones for the sins of Adam, Eve and each one of us.
A Covering For Our Sins
Gen 3:21 And יהוה Elohim made coats of skin for the man and his wife and dressed them.
Adam and Eve were clothed and no longer naked. They weren’t covered by fig leaves which they had gathered and sewn together themselves. Instead Yahweh covered their nakedness and transgression by the first instance of death in the Scriptures. He clothed them with the coats of skin. Death came into the world because of sin, or disobeying the commands of Yahweh.
To sin means to miss the mark, as an archer would. To cover their sin and nakedness Yahweh used the skin of an animal, another life which had to end in order for the covering to be made.
The Scriptures are absolutely full of symbolic images and foreshadowing. In this first instance of sin we see that only the death of an innocent substitute can be used by Elohim to cover the sins of mankind.
Many years later Yahweh would send His Son Yeshua to be the atoning offering for sin that all mankind needs to be forgiven, or covered. We are covered, or saved, by the Blood of the Lamb Yeshua.
The imagery of the Lamb comes from the Passover story in the Book of Exodus. By placing the blood of a Lamb on their doorposts the children of Israel were saved from the death of the firstborn in Egypt. They were “passed over,” and were spared.
This is the symbolism of Yeshua. He is the Passover Lamb for all who will believe in Him.
The Name of Yahweh “is in Him.” Yeshua means Yah is Salvation.
This Genesis story is the story of why humans need forgiveness from sin, and hints at how that forgiveness can be obtained.
